For years we were told anyone could “get rich quick” marketing things online, but now most people know that isn’t quite true. While it is possible to make a fantastic living marketing goods online, there’s some amount of work and credibility building that has to come first. It’s not as quick and easy as some may like you to believe.
Now we don’t mean to discourage you. Some people have created profitable online businesses in a relatively short amount of time, but these people either knew the marketing game beforehand or learned the ropes through good training from reliable sources. Very seldom do you find anyone making a long term profit from those ready made, cookie cutter systems or from a recruitment style multi-level marketing scheme.
For example, if you’re newly looking into building an online marketing business, you’ll see many marketers selling package deals for niche sites complete with 100s of articles and web pages already built. While these may seem like a real time saver, they don’t really take into consideration the number of competitors these packages will bring you who are using the same set up and content, nor the way the search engines value that content.
So unless you have exclusive rights to these packages, or you’re able to be the first person to put the package up on your site so it gets indexed first, the odds of getting any visitors from the search engines are little to none. The truth is, success in any niche is attainable, but to make it profitable, you have to put some effort into to it and make it stand out in the crowd.
There’s no getting around it. You have to learn how to market before you can succeed at it!

1. Get SEO or Search Engine Optimization for their sites so they can almost guarantee themselves a first page listing on the search engines.
2. Do the keyword research to find the least competitive keywords with the most amount of search engine traffic.

5. Target a specific niche.
6. Write sales copy that draws people to their buy now buttons.

10. Launch a new product, or successfully promote someone else’s products.
11. Capitalize on SMO or Social Media Optimization.

Unfortunately, every one of these is vital to succeeding online, and they all need to be learned.
Fortunately for you, there are ample sources for learning how to market successfully. You just need to decide how successful you want to be and then go get the training you’ll need to achieve it.
But take your time, and learn what you need according to your current abilities and the part of marketing you want to achieve success in first. Are you interested in monetizing a blog or do you want to stick to simple landing pages?
There’s a lot to consider, but know one thing . . .
